In Italy, over the past 15 years, the Japanese model of total quality management within companies has become very popular. Starting from this fact, the author also analyzes the "way of doing quality" proposed by German companies and comes up with an original contribution to the definition of a "German model."
However, it goes far beyond this goal and, starting from the proud affirmation of the strength of Italian small and medium-sized enterprises and the analysis of the two winning systems, suggests a management model particularly suited to our small and medium-sized enterprises.
The result is a broad fresco of the history of business organization that, pleasingly, gradually uncovers the roots and motivations that led to the present industrial system.
Written to be understood, essential but rigorous, the book succeeds in making the major issues of modern management easily understandable. It can therefore be used by specialists as a reference text, but also by all those (students, workers, clerks, managers, entrepreneurs, etc...) who have a business or cultural interest in learning about the fascinating world of small and medium-sized enterprises.
