This book takes up, deepening its contents, the message launched by our previous book "Looking Beyond" Ed. Franco Angeli, where it was enunciated that "lean thinking," in the corporate sphere, goes beyond production, and encompasses design and "offices" in 360°. In particular, the in-depth study concerns design i.e., "that part of the company" that profoundly influences all others both because it is with the rapid development of increasingly innovative and technological products that companies secure their future and because, from how the product is conceived and thought of, directly follows the way it is made and sold.
The text provides solutions to problems and ideas for improvement on topics that in our manufacturing realities are the subject of daily discussions among entrepreneurs and managers, reminding us that "lean thinking" is not the prerogative of large companies but, indeed, is more easily applied to small and medium-sized companies because, with the application of lean principles, people's way of thinking must change, and so it is obviously easier in a small company where people are few and more pragmatic and concrete.
This book is not a scientific treatise nor is it a technical manual for the use and consumption of designers : it is an attempt, in our opinion a successful one, to give concrete answers and solutions to the problems of Italian and other manufacturing companies.
That is why we believe that by making it available to entrepreneurs, managers, researchers, students and why not even non-business people, we can contribute to the development and improvement of the Italian industrial system.
