“SMED Method” course: reduce Setup time for operational efficiency

The SMED (Single Minute Exchange of Die) course enables students to learn about and put into practice a cornerstone tool of the Lean methodology, thanks to which it is possible to reduce a machine's set-up time, eliminating tooling downtime and identifying benchmark operating standards. Through hands-on sessions on a real production machine, participants will learn a method to standardize activities, with systematic attack on production anomalies.

Method and tools to reduce changeover time with SMED

At the end of the course, participants will acquire method and tools for:

• reduce changeover time
• Identify activities that can be eliminated or need to be optimized
• Create operational standards based on Visual Management and make them sustainable over time through operational procedures and tools
• plan and implement improvement plans

The course is intended for Production Managers, Production Managers, Continuous Improvement Managers, Lean Specialists, Department Managers, Foremen, Supervisors, Team Leaders, Quality Managers, Process Technicians.

It takes place in a single day in-person at the Lean Factory School®, with alternating face-to-face moments and sessions learning-by-doing On a dedicated machine.

The course is taught by Bonfiglioli Consultants who have significant experience in applying SMED methodology and optimizing setup operations.
