Introduction to Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt

Basic training for business process improvement

The path to the formation of a Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt is the first step within the Lean Six Sigma growth path. Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belts are introduced to the method, basic tools for Probem Solving and business data management in a statistical sense. The goal of the Yellow path is to. Train resources that can be supportive of Green Belt or Black Belt-led projects. The Yellow path can thus be useful both for basic training of specialized figures and as a first step toward more comprehensive pathways such as Green Belt or Black Belt certification.

The course includes:

  • 24 hours divided into 3 days of Learning By Doing training
  • Prework with Basic Knowledge Level Assessment Test
  • In-person sessions at the Lean Factory School® and remotely
  • Certification of skills with Final Test

 

Goals

At the end of the course participants:

  • Will have learned the basic concepts of Lean Six Sigma
  • Will know how to initiate Lean Six Sigma improvement initiatives.
  • Will be able to actively participate as Team Members in Lean Six Sigma projects.
  • will know what the main tools of Lean Six Sigma are for business process improvement.

LEAN AND SIX SIGMA

  • What is Lean Six Sigma
  • Lean Six Sigma organizations and their roles
  • The DMAIC method and Lean Thinking (PDCA)

Business game - run 1: Execution of a production process according to Customer's specifications

DEFINE

  • Theory - Customer value vs. waste, voice the vop
  • Tool - process capability, the 6s metric, averaging and dispersion, the Project Charter and its parts

Business game  run 2: see the defectiveness, Define the problem and objective, compilation of the project charter

MEASURE

  • Theory-Continuous data, attributes, stratification variables; Pareto's law
  • Tools - Process measurement and graphical representation, the Pareto diagram, validated data collection

Business game run 3: Robust data collection geared toward achieving the project goal by improvement

ANALYSE

  • Theory-the search for root cause, the concept of hypothesis testing
  • Tools - Lean: 5 why, Ishikawa; SixSigma: the experimental test and statistical interpretation of the result

Business game run 4: Let's let the data speak in search of the root cause

IMPROVE

  • Theory - generate and select ideas, design the experiment, standardize the improvement action
  • Tools - brainstorming, visual standardization techniques, pokayoke

Business game run 5: creation and application of countermeasure

CONTROL

  • Theory - Verification and consolidation of results
  • Tool - The control chart: reading and interpreting patterns in control and out of control

Business game run 6: Measurement of the achievement of the improvement goal, closing the project, lesson learned.

    Requirements for Certification | In order to obtain certification, the participant must:

    attend

    Attend the training course (at least 80% of the scheduled hours)

    project work

    For the Green Belt and Black Belt pathways, submit at least one operational Project Work and pass the online test upon completion of the course

    experience

    Green Belt certification or a comparable level of readiness is required for enrollment in the Black Belt pathway, to be verified with the free welcome assessment
